'TRUSME' RX2 SEDAN

Make/Model: Mazda RX2 Sedan 

Owner: Pierre Sleiman

Car's purpose (race car, street car, show car etc): Street/Race

Engine: Pac-Spec Series 8 13B Bridgeport Turbo 

Bolt-Ons: Garrett GT40 Turbocharger, Turbosmart Pro Gate Lite 50 wastegate, Turbosmart Plumb Back BOV 

ECU and Fuel: MicroTech LT-16c ECU, High Output Coils,Pac Perf direct fit E85 fuel tank/triple pump combo 

Driveline: Jatco 3-speed Auto, 3 inch tailshaft, H/duty 9 inch diff

Cooling: Pac alloy radiator, oil cooler & 4" Intercooler 

Brakes & Suspension: Wilwood front & rear disc brake kit 

Body: Custom white paint by GAS 250 restorations, RX2 Fibre glass Front Stone Tray to cover Front Mount Intercooler

Interior: Genuine Recaro Sportster CS front seats, removable front half 'Moly' roll cage, MicroTech LTC Pro Dash, Turbosmart E-Boost II, B & M shifter 

Wheels: 15" Weld V-Series wheels 

Power: 500+ rwhp 

ET: Not yet raced but owner is hoping for mid to low 9's

 


Pierre first came to our workshop with his RX2 for a tune which was then a naturally aspirated 13B, running a manual gearbox. 

Happy with how the car was running, Pierre enjoyed cruising the streets but soon enough the bug hit and he wanted more power!!

 

 

After a chat with George it was all in the works, the n/a bridgeport would be replaced with a proven 9 second Pac 13B turbo package.

Pierre had one stipulation though, the car had to be a legally street driven drag car. Not a problem at all for the team here at Pac Performance, what Pierre now has is a street legal, fully engineered RX2 capable of running mid to low 9 second passes. 

 


With the paintwork already done previously by GAS250 Restorations the first thing we needed to do when the car came in was strip out the interior and install a roll cage with a removable front half. 

 


Next up the naturally aspirated 13b was removed to make way for a Pac spec 13B Bridgeport.

 

 

The finished look of the engine bay once installed is clean and crisp with the majority of the bolt-on parts and accessories powder coated in-house in satin black continuing the black and white theme.

 


Providing the boost to the engine is a Garrett GT40R turbocharger paired with one of our Sheilded High flow air filters which are engineer approved. 

 

 

Helping to regulate the boost from the GT40 Turbocharger is a Turbosmart Pro-Gate 50 lite external wastegate. All of the features of the regular Pro-Gate 50 but in a more compact size to fit in tight spaces (not that you struggle for space in a rotary engine bay). 



With 500+ horsepower at the wheels coming to a stop safely is paramount so Pierre opted for our Wilwood brake upgrade kit. Tried and tested to stop Eric Wolf's 20B Street car 'TRIPLE' from 170+ MPH. 

 


One of the things our customers are most impressed with is the way our engines run constantly at the right temperature and never get too hot. How we have achieved this is with our H/duty Alloy Radiator, Oil cooler, Custom Fan shroud & Thermo fan combo.

 

 

Keeping Pierre's beast fed with a constant flow of E85 is one of our custom fuel tanks with triple in-tank pumps. These tanks have a capacity of around 80 litres giving Pierre more time between refills.

 

 

Feeding the power to the H/Duty 9" Diff is one of our race proven 9 second Jatco 3-speed transmissions kept cool with a trans cooler mounted under the car. 

 

 

Inside the interior features a set of genuine Recaro Sportster CS front seats providing Pierre with the ultimate comfort when cruising his Pac built beast. 

 

 

Giving Pierre all the info he needs while driving is a MicroTech LTC Pro dash replacing the factory gauges. Supplying the sounds is a Pioneer head unit custom mounted by Ronnie @ Bankstown Sound & Marine.  


Exterior wise, Pierre's RX2 looks tough with a set of Weld V-Series wheels wrapped in M & H radials. A refreshing change from the Simmons that used to be fitted to the car.

  


The finished product is a fully engineered tough street car that is ready for action on the drag strip. Pierre couldn't be happier with how the build turned out and has been a regular at all of the local car meets since picking it up from our workshop. It won't be long now until we see him out cracking a 9 second pass.
